Electric vehicles provide a variety of benefits that range from lower emissions to generally lower maintenance and running costs, which makes an investment worthwhile for the future. Many individuals are entering the EV market, and more companies are releasing new models that can fill the gap between combustion engines.
But, despite their advantages, electric vehicles aren't completely totally free of issues. As with all vehicles, they're subject to wear and tear as well as external factors that could cause damage, which can cause many to need roadside assistance.
Running Out of Battery Charge
It's an issue that is simple to fix. An easy fix, but the issue of running out of battery is the main reason electric vehicles require roadside assistance. In essence, it's like having to run out of fuel on the commute!
While the batteries in EVs have seen a dramatic improvement in just a few years, they only offer a small amount of charge, and many drivers fail to pay attention to this. In addition, since there are less charging stations in public and a lot of people struggle to charge the battery while out in the open, which can cause some to go completely out of battery and need roadside assistance.
Dead Battery
This isn't the same as the battery that dies in a vehicle powered by combustion, and it's the electric battery that supplies the electric vehicle with power. The lithium-ion battery technology in electric vehicles has advanced leaps and bounds over the last few years, but they're not immune to degrading as all other batteries.
The latest EVs are equipped with superior batteries than older models; however, they'll have to be replaced at some point. This happens more frequently in older EVs that have been in use for a long time, causing the battery to draw less energy and then die completely.
Unfortunately, for certain, this can happen in the course of a commute, resulting in the necessity to seek roadside help.
Brake Issues
The causes of EV breakdowns are the same as the other cars! Brakes are one of the main reasons for breakdowns of any kind, principally because they wear out over time and pads and rotors must be replaced. Although EVs utilize regenerative braking systems to slow down the wear and tear of the brakes, the wear develops over time and can result in a breakdown.
Tires
Another issue with vehicles that affects electric vehicles is tire issues. It can be caused by wear and tear on the treads or from objects on the road, which causes damage to the tread, resulting in tire problems frequently leading EVs to require assistance from the road.
In reality, many electronic vehicles weigh more than their combustion engine counterparts due to the battery system adding a significant amount of weight. This, in turn, puts more pressure on the tires, which means tread wear can happen faster!
